As I reflect on the profound journey I embarked upon in Barbados during my Stimulyst mastermind retreat, I am filled with a sense of renewal and clarity.

The island’s serene beauty, with its vibrant culture and resilient spirit, served as the perfect backdrop for introspection and growth.

As a Black female conscious leadership coach and executive trauma coach, I have long been immersed in the complex challenges faced by Black and Brown women in corporate America. However, my time in Barbados marked a pivotal shift in my perspective.

In the tranquility of the island, I found myself moving away from the persistent focus on the problems and barriers that Black and Brown women encounter. Instead, I was drawn to the power of solutions, to the transformative potential of love and empathy in reshaping corporate cultures. This shift in perspective, moving from a mindset of healing to one of embracing love, became my new mantra: ‘From Focusing on Healing to Embracing Love in Corporate America.’

I realized that while acknowledging and understanding the trauma and challenges is crucial, fostering an environment of love, inclusivity, and mutual respect is equally important. This approach can revolutionize how organizations interact with their diverse employees, especially those historically underserved and marginalized.

In Barbados, the strength and resilience of the community amidst their historical struggles inspired me. It highlighted the immense potential for growth and harmony when love is the foundation of our interactions. This understanding has reshaped my coaching philosophy, infusing it with a more positive, solution-focused outlook.

As I integrate these insights into my practice, I extend a call to action to leaders who may be experiencing compassion fatigue or seeking a more positive approach to addressing the inequities and oppression in the workplace.

I will guide you on this journey if you want to build a loving and respectful relationship between your company and its Black and Brown employees.

Together, we can transform corporate environments into spaces where everyone feels valued and understood. Let’s shift our focus from merely healing to actively embracing and cultivating love and inclusivity in every aspect of our corporate culture.
